Carbo loading time!

This morning I ran the Kaleen block before going to meet Mr B and CJ for brekkie. I stayed on the main lit paths and wore my headlamp as well to ensure I didn't lose my footing! I have made the decision to run in my older running shoes as I noticed a few twinges while stretching after training in my new shoes on Monday night. So, hopefully I'm making the right decision and my feet won't suffer too much. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I'll wear the others in the Canberra Half Marathon in May.

Run at 5.30am
Distance: 5.93km
Time taken: 34:12
Average pace per km: 5:46
Calories burned: 342

Today I started carbo loading - jam sandwiches, jelly snakes, yoghurt, gatorade, rice, lots of vegies as part of the plan. I already feel rather bloated at the end of day one of three.

  1. Mangiare troppi carboidrati e sarete grassi per la maratona!!

  2. You do know to increase the proportion of carbohydrate in the diet, not the volume?

  3. Tapering, Carbo Loading and Hydration, but don't overdo the water intake before the run.

  5. slow down
    don't move too fast
you got to make the morning last.
    kicking down the dusty roads
trying to run and feelin' dozy.

    hello lamppost,
    you're not moving
    it's like i'm watching
    grass growing.
ain't cha got no gel for me?
    doot-in' doo-doo,
    feelin' hungry

    got more steps to do,
    those promises to keep.
i'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
let the morning time drop all its balloons aloft on me.
    like i'm stuffed now,
    someone move me.

    - the 42nd kilometer song, not anything like what Paul Simon would have written, purely my own invention.

  6. Hi from Boston, Strewth. I have had trouble getting access to good quality carbos here and am envious of what you are getting. I will be thinking of you on Sunday.
